The Plan
Preventive Maintenance, Not Crisis Management
A Mighty Ducts maintenance agreement puts a technician in your home twice a year, heating in the fall and cooling in the spring, before the season that would have broken your system. Here is exactly what gets done on each visit. No vague “tune-up,” just the list.
Fall Heating Visit
Before the first cold snap
- Check the thermostat for proper operation
- Check all safety controls
- Test hot surface ignitor or pilot system
- Hook up a manometer to the gas valve to verify gas pressures
- Perform bubble tests on gas piping to confirm no leaks
- Change the air filter
- Inspect blower motor and ductwork for cleanliness
- Inspect exhaust piping for corrosion and defects
- Check total performance and operating efficiency
- Clean the flame sensor
- Amp draw readings on blower motors to confirm they are within spec
- Clear drain lines where applicable
- Tighten all electrical connections
- Clean dust and debris from the furnace
- Start up and test the furnace for proper operation
Spring Cooling Visit
Before the first heat wave
- Temperature reading across the AC coil to monitor refrigerant levels
- Install gauges to test operating pressures if needed
- Amp draw reading on the compressor to confirm it is within spec
- Tighten all electrical connections on the load side of the disconnect
- Install a new air filter
- Clear the condensate drain line
- Inspect coils for cleanliness
- Check the capacitor to confirm it is within spec
- Clean dirt and debris out of the condenser
- Amp draw readings on motors to confirm they are within spec
- Test condensate overflow safety devices
- Clean the condensate pump if applicable
- Temperature reading across the condensing coil
- Open the condenser electrical compartment and clear out nests or insects
- Start up and test the AC system for proper operation
Humidifier Service
Included where equipped
- Remove and clean the humidifier cover
- Replace the humidifier pad
- Vacuum debris out of the humidifier
- Clear the drain line
- Clean any environmental growth inside the humidifier
- Test the water shut-off valve
- Test the humidifier solenoid valve
- Inspect and adjust the humidifier control
- Start up and test the humidifier for proper operation
- Inspect the 1/4″ copper water line for leaks and corrosion

What Happens After
You Get a Written Report Every Visit
When the tune-up is complete we walk you through everything we found: what is in good shape, what is starting to wear, and what we would keep an eye on. Nothing gets repaired without your approval, and nothing gets recommended that we would not do on our own equipment.
If a component is close to failing, you find out in October when it is a scheduled repair, not in January when it is an emergency.
